shoptarte:

While browsing a popular clothing store’s site, I came across an almost identical blouse to the vintage one I sold right when I opened my new store. Which reiterated that companies don’t just take inspiration from vintage, but merely duplicate them; with that, taking away from all the benefits of purchasing recycled clothing: sustainability, eco-friendliness, and individuality/uniqueness. I’d much rather be sporting a one-of-a-kind blouse than show up somewhere and be quadruplets with three other girls clad head-to-toe American Apparel (“I work there” is not an excuse! Would you wear your Stater Bros apron to the clurrb?) At at any rate, it’s much more efficient and á la mode to purchase and wear recycled clothing. But if you’re reading this (i.e, following Tarte) you already know that.
